I was recently diagnosed with Diabetes which is not fatal like cancer but it is like a slow poison that slowly kills you if you are not careful. I was put on drugs like Metformin by my family doctor with threats of going to insulin soon if it is not controlled. This is when I understood the seriousness and began researching to find a herbal or a natural way of controlling diabetes. This lead me to discover the miraculous medicinal uses of Nigella Sativa…ie black seed .
 Kalonji ---- The Miracle Herb
Nigella sativa is an annual flowering plant, native to south and southwest Asia. It grows to 20–30 cm (7.9–12 in) tall, with finely divided, linear (but not thread-like) leaves. The flowers are delicate, and usually coloured pale blue and white, with five to ten petals. The fruit is a large and inflated capsule composed of three to seven united follicles, each containing numerous seeds. The seed is used as a spice.
Chemical constituents of Nigella Sativa are as follows: Alanine, arginine, ascorbic-acid, asparagine, campesterol, carvone, cymene, cystine, dehydroascorbic-acid, eicosadienoic-acid, glucose, glutamic-acid, glycine, iron, isoleucine, leucine, d-limonene, linoleic-acid, linolenic-acid, lipase, lysine, methionine, myristic-acid, nigellin, nigellone, oleic-acid, palmitic-acid, phenylalanine, phytosterols, potassium, beta-sitosterol, alpha-spinasterol, stearic-acid, stigmasterol, tannin, threonine, thymohydroquinone, thymoquinone, tryptophan, tyrosine.
Black seeds or Nigella Sativa was discovered from the tomb of Tutankhamun, an Egyptian Pharaoh who ruled Egypt from 1333 BC to 1324 BC. The researches reveal that the seeds were entombed with the king for better health in his afterlife. However the earliest written reference to Nigella Sativa is thought to be in the 25 to 27 verses of the 28th chapter of Old Testament book of Isaiah where the reaping of Nigella and wheat is contrasted. These verses indicate how Nigella is treated differently by the farmers as it is more valuable than wheat and other crops.
The ancient Islamic literature has given lots of importance to the healing property of black seed. Prophet Muhammad said “Hold on to the use of the black seed, for it has the cure for every illness except death.” It is stated in the books of seerat that Nabi-e-Akram (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) himself used to take these seeds for therapeutic purpose but with the syrup of Honey. According to Ancient Greek records, the great physician of 1st century, Dioscoredes used black seeds to treat a variety of illnesses like intestinal parasites, toothaches, headaches, respiratory congestion and amenorrhea. He used it as a diuretic to promote menstruation and increase milk production.
 Kalonji --- Texture
The seeds of Nigella Sativa are beneficial for the digestive system, soothing stomach pains and spasms and easing wind, bloating and colic. The ripe seed is anthelmintic, carminative, diaphoretic, digestive, diuretic, emmenagogue, galactogogue, laxative and stimulant. An infusion is used in the treatment of digestive and menstrual disorders, insufficient lactation and bronchial complaints.Externally, the seed is ground into a powder, mixed with sesame oil and used to treat abscesses, haemorrhoids and orchitis. The powdered seed been used to remove lice from the hair. The Black Cumin (Nigella sativa) Seed is also a source of calcium, iron, sodium, and potassium. Required only in small amounts by the body, these elements’ main function is to act as essential cofactors in various enzyme functions.Diabetic patients like me have been told to prepare a mixture of a cup of black cumin (habba soda) seeds, a cup of water cress seeds, half a cup of pomegranate peel and to grind the mixture to powder . Then we have been advised to take half a spoon of the mixture together with a teaspoon of black cumin oil daily for breakfast for a month and then to test our blood sugar level for a significant difference. Also I found that the below doasge which is easy and simple to be useful in lowering the glucose level in blood.
- Mix half tea spoon of Kalonji oil in hot water and drink it twice daily once in the morning and also before going to bed.
- Avoid oily food stuff, particularly fried items.
It is believed that Cleopatra the famous queen of Egypt used the black seeds for maintaining her health, beauty and vitality.
As a result of unparallell medicinal value of Black seed, this medicinal herb is also known as “Habbatul Baraka”, which means “the blessed seed.” or “The Prophet’s Medicine” and is usually referred by different names across the globe.
We all love to enjoy our drinks occassionally outside our house. But sometimes we are deprived of this small pleasure or joy of life due to nuisances.Latest research show that mosquitoes are likely to target people with beer in their systems might make you re-think about enjoying your favourite pint in the patio. The brave souls who still want to indulge can at least apply some bug repellent before they head out.
A study, conducted by scientists at the IRD Research Centre in France, shows that insects are 15 per cent more likely to fly toward humans who have alcohol in their body.
According to the researchers one possible explanation is, “Mosquitoes may have evolved preferences for people who recently consumed beer – possibly due to reduced host defensive behaviours or highly-nutritious blood-meals.”
The team used 25 males from West Africa and had them drink a local brew called Dolo. Mosquitoes were then released into the air and had the option of flying toward open air or the odour of the participant. Before participants drank the beer, only 50 per cent of mosquitoes flew toward the participant’s odour. After a beer, the number rose to 65 per cent.
“Beer consumption, as opposed to water consumption, significantly increased both the activation and orientation of An. gambiae,” the authors wrote in Plos One. “We found that beer consumption not only enhanced the number of mosquitoes that engage in odour-mediated upwind flight (mosquito activation) but also enhanced the strength of their odour-mediated anemotactic response (mosquito orientation).”
Researchers also tried the same experiment with water finding that it was six per cent less likely for mosquitoes to fly toward the participants odour after consuming a glass.
They are hoping to use the findings to decrease cases of malaria, a disease that kills 780,000 people worldwide every year.
While malaria may not be a big problem in the first world, it is always a good idea to lather on the bug screen when at home enjoying beer.
Finally there is a new hope for people who could end up having Alzheimer’s disease in the future. Medical researchers claim a new innovative brain scanning technique may be able to detect Alzheimer’s disease a decade before symptoms begin to appear.
The technology called Positron emission tomography( PET)scans could be available within a year which will give potential Alzheimer’s patient sometime to equip themselves in the war against this deadly disease. Researchers believe that this could possible lessen the magnitude of the devastating effects and may eventually lead to early treatments and even a cure.
The British teams amongst a number of researchers around the world are taking the PET scan technique seriously and are working at using it to monitor the condition. The University of Melbourne and University of Texas have claimed to have mastered the technique. They used the PET machine to monitor the build up of the protein Amyloid -beta,which is known to be connected to dementia and cognitive decline and also causing tangling in the brain and effectively silting it up and blocking normal thought process.
Hundreds of volunteers of different types, some healthy ,some with mild cognitive impairment participated in the experiments and underwent several psychological and neurological tests conducted by the researchers. They were under observations for many years, during which their brains were scanned regularly. It was observed that those with high build up of plagues were more likely to develop memory problems and alzheimer’s disease. Hopefully this new technique will bring a new light in the lives of the people suffering the alzheimer’s disease thought to be incurable till now.
Eating a Lemon is lot Healthier than eating an Orange …….. LEMON will clean all your INTESTINES.. Which oranges don’t …

This is the latest in medicine, effective for cancer!
Read carefully & you be the judge.
Lemon (Citrus) is a miraculous product to kill cancer cells. It is 10,000 times stronger than chemotherapy.
Why do we not know about that? Because there are laboratories interested in making a synthetic version that will bring them huge profits. You can now help a friend in need by letting him/her know that lemon juice is beneficial in preventing the disease. Its taste is pleasant and it does not produce the horrific effects of chemotherapy. How many people will die while this closely guarded secret is kept, so as not to jeopardize the beneficial multimillionaires large corporations? As you know, the lemon tree is known for its varieties of lemons and limes. You can eat the fruit in different ways: you can eat the pulp, juice press, prepare drinks, sorbets, pastries, etc… It is credited with many virtues, but the most interesting is the effect it produces on cysts and tumors. This plant is a proven remedy against cancers of all types. Some say it is very useful in all variants of cancer. It is considered also as an anti microbial spectrum against bacterial infections and fungi, effective against internal parasites and worms, it regulates blood pressure which is too high and an antidepressant, combats stress and nervous disorders.
The source of this information is fascinating: it comes from one of the largest drug manufacturers in the world, says that after more than 20 laboratory tests since 1970, the extracts revealed that: It destroys the malignant cells in 12 cancers, including colon, breast, prostate, lung and pancreas … The compounds of this tree showed 10,000 times better than the product Adriamycin, a drug normally used chemotherapeutic in the world, slowing the growth of cancer cells. And what is even more astonishing: this type of therapy with lemon extract only destroys malignant cancer cells and it does not affect healthy cells.

 Mc Donald's
I was quite shocked when I read the article about how McDonald’s Happy Meal resisted decomposition for six months. It alarmed me as Mcdonald is extremely popular in almost all over the world. It talks a lot about the ingredients used in McDonald as very few products have the shocking ability to resist Mother Nature’s cycle of decomposition and biodegradability, apparently. That’s very disturbing as you have people of all ages depending on McDonald sometimes for their meal. This alarming point was raised by the latest project of New York City-based artist and photographer Sally Davies, who bought a McDonald’s Happy Meal back in April and kept in her kitchen to see how well it would hold up over time. After six months this is what Davies had to say to U.K Daily Mail,”The only change that I can see is that it has become hard as a rock”.
Every week she photographed the Happy Meal and then posted the pictures to Flickr to record the results of her experiment. Now any other food after six months would have got rotten or spoilt. But you would be surprised by the resilient quality shown by good old McDonald.Six months later, not even the molds grew on the Happy Meal.Davies told the Daily Mail that “the food is plastic to the touch and has an acrylic sheen to it.”
According to Davies she initiated the project to prove a friend wrong.”I told my friend about a schoolteacher who’s kept a McDonald’s burger for 12 years that hasn’t changed at all,and he didn’t believe me when I told him about it,” acc. to Davies. “He thought I was crazy and said I shouldn’t believe everything that I read, so I decided to try it myself.”
He believed that any burger would mold or rot within two or three days of being left on a counter. Thus began what’s become known as “The Happy Meal Art Project ” as told to Upshot.Davies work has been featured in numerous films and television shows and has been collected by several celebrities.
However as per the observations made by some observers of the photo series the burger’s bun appeared at different angles, and therefore caused suspicions that the Happy Meal may not in fact be as “untouched” as the project’s groundrules stipulate. Davies says there’s a simple explanation for the mobile-bun effect.”The meal is on a plate in my apartment on a shelf,” she says, “and when I take it down to shoot it, the food slides around. It’s hard as rock on a glass plate, so sure, the food is moving.” Wellness and nutrition educator Karen Hanrahan has indeed kept a McDonald’s hamburger since 1996 to show clients and students how resistant fast food can be to decomposition.
As for Davies, she said that she may keep her burger and fries hanging around for a while as well.
“It’s sitting on a bookshelf right now, so it’s not really taking up any space, so why not?” she said. It ceased giving off any sort of odour after 24 hours, she said, adding: “You have to see this thing.”
In response to Davies’ project, McDonald’s spokeswoman Theresa Riley emailed The Upshot a statement defending the quality of the chain’s food. Riley’s email also blasted Davies’ “completely unsubstantiated” work as something out of “the realm of urban legends.”
“McDonald’s hamburger patties in the United States are made with 100% USDA-inspected ground beef,” Riley wrote. “Our hamburgers are cooked and prepared with salt, pepper and nothing else — no preservatives, no fillers. Our hamburger buns are baked locally, are made from North American-grown wheat flour and include common government-approved ingredients designed to assure food quality and safety. …
According to Dr. Michael Doyle, Director, Center for Food Safety at the University of Georgia, ‘From a scientific perspective, I can safely say that the way McDonald’s hamburgers are freshly processed, no hamburger would look like this after one year unless it was tampered with or held frozen.’”
Well after hearing and reading about all these experiments one can only be more careful about what they are eating and about the various food contents. That is why label reading is especially important.Be aware of the amount and the ingredients that have been used or added on your food.Choose foods which offer nutrients important for a healthy, balanced diet.Monitor your food intake carefully to obtain a healthy weight, managing sound blood sugar levels and decreasing your risk of health problems such as heart disease etc.
We celebrated yet another Halloween Day with lots of firecrackers, lights and treats. There was fun and festivity in the air as people celebrated with colourful customes and carved pumkins of various sizes and shapes. Carving Pumpkins is an integral part of Halloween celebration where young and old participate and spend hours carving a pumpkin. In my pursuit to trace the history of carving pumpkins, brought me to the time when early European settlers particularly the Irish, came to America. They brought with them their various religious rites and rituals. As part of their culture on this magical night, glowing jack-o-lanterns, carved from turnips or gourds, were set on porches and in windows to welcome deceased loved ones.It also acted as protection against malevolent spirits. Burning lumps of coal were used inside as a source of light which were later replaced by candles.Halloween really became big in late1800′s and ever since then it has been celebrated in many ways.
After arriving in America the settlers found the native pumpkin to be larger, easier to carve which seemed the perfect choice for jack-o-lanterns.Pumpkins are indigenous to the western hemisphere and were completely unknown in Europe before the time of Columbus. In fact, pumpkins have been growing in America for over 5,000 years and the Native Americans called the pumpkins “isquotersquash.” Pumpkins, like gourds, and other varieties of squash are all members of the Cucurbitacae family , which also includes cucumbers, gherkins, and melons.
Many people have tried their hands on pumpkin carving but very few of them really do it as well as artist Ray Villafane.
Artist Ray Villafane began carving pumpkins on a lark for his art students in a small rural school district in Michigan. The hobby changed his life as he gained a viral following online and unlocked his genuine love of sculpting. Here are images of pumpkin carvings Villafane created over the past five years.

Toxic red sludge from a Hungarian alumina plant reached the Danube and crews struggled to dilute it to protect the river from what the prime minister called an ” unprecedented ecological catastrophe.Hungary’s red sludge nearly equals Gulf spill as the mighty Danube apparently absorbed the massive red sludge spill with little immediate damage but laboratory tests heightened concerns about possible longer-term harm caused by toxic heavy metals in the slurry.
Experts said damage beyond the borders of Hungary was unlikely to be great but the threat had to be monitored closely.
Government officials lowered their estimate of the size of Monday’s catastrophic spill — but even those figures were mind-boggling. They said the reservoir break at an alumina plant dumped up to 700,000 cubic meters (184 million gallons) of sludge onto three villages — not much less in a few hours than the 200 million gallons the blown-out BP oil well gushed into the Gulf of Mexico over several months beginning in April.
Tibor Dobson, a spokesman for Hungarian disaster crews, told Reuters there were sporadic fish deaths in the Raba and the Mosoni-Danube rivers. He said all fish had died in the smaller Marcal River, which was hit by the spill first. In Gyor, a city in the north-west of Hungary where the Raba flows into the Mosoni-Danube,a Reuters reporter saw white froth on the river and many dead fish washed ashore.
A fifth person — an 81-year-old man — died Friday from injuries sustained in the torrent, Hungary’s rescue service said.
The red sludge devastated creeks and rivers near the spill site and entered the Danube which moves through Hungary’s immediate neighbours, Croatia, Serbia,Bulgaria,Romania,Moldova and Ukrainian territory enroute to the Black Sea. Monitors were taking samples every few hours to measure damage from the spill but the sheer volume flowing in Europe’s second largest river appeared to be blunting the red sludge’s immediate impact.
Prime Minister Viktor Orban said the threat to the Danube had been eliminated, and the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube, a Vienna-based group that monitors the river and its tributaries, agreed.
“We managed to take control of the situation in time,” the state MTI news agency quoted Orban as saying.
“The consequences do not seem to be that dramatic,” said Philip Weller, head of the Danube commission, told The Associated Press..
Authorities restricted media access to Kolontar, the devastated village closest to the leak, claiming reporters and TV crews were interfering with cleanup work. Reporters were assigned minders. Is the Hungarian Government trying to hide something ?
Despite the apparent good news about the Danube, the risk of pervasive and lasting environmental damage remained, with Greenpeace presenting laboratory tests that it said showed high concentrations of heavy metals in the sludge.
Red sludge samples taken Tuesday, a day after the spill, contained “surprisingly high” levels of arsenic and mercury, Greenpeace told reporters in Vienna. The analysis suggested that roughly 50 tons of arsenic, 300 tons of chrome and half a ton of mercury was unleashed by the spill, Greenpeace officials said.
They said the detected arsenic concentration was twice the amount normally found in so-called red mud, a waste product in aluminum production. Analysis of water in a canal near the spill also found arsenic levels 25 times the limit for drinking water, Greenpeace said.
With rain giving way to dry, warmer weather, the caustic mud was increasingly turning to airborne dust, which can cause respiratory problems, said Zoltan Illes, Hungary’s environmental chief. Emergency officials urged residents near the toxic flood area to wear face masks.
The warnings conflicted with the view of the prestigious Hungarian Academy of Sciences, which reiterated that the red sludge remained hazardous due to its caustic alkalinity but its heavy metal concentrations were not considered dangerous for the environment.
“The academy can say whatever it wants,” fumed Barbara Szalai Szita, who lives in Devecser, one of the hardest-hit villages. “All I know is that if I spend 30 minutes outside I get a foul taste in my mouth and my tongue feels strange.”
Prime Minister Viktor Orban after visiting Kolontar said that there was no point in even removing the rubble from part of the village as it was impossible to live there again.
Emergency crews, meanwhile, drained a second industrial reservoir at the spill site to prevent a new disaster, while others drained a nearby swollen pond but did not find any of the three people still missing.
Dobson told the AP that 100,000 cubic meters (26 million gallons) of fluid from a storage pond close to the burst reservoir was being gradually released Friday into a local river already declared dead after Monday’s environmental catastrophe. Gypsum was being dropped into the Marcal River from helicopters to neutralize the alkaline effect of the fluid, he said .
However, meteorologists at AccuWeather.com noted that spring and summer rains across eastern Europe were more than 200 per cent above normal and said the walls holding back the sludge may have been weakened by the rain.
MAL Rt., the Hungarian Aluminum Production and Trade Company that owns the Ajkai Timfoldgyar plant where the spill occurred has rejected criticism it should have taken more precautions at the reservoir.
It is still not known what caused a section of the reservoir to collapse.
Hungarian police have confiscated documents from the company, and the National Investigation Office was looking into whether on-the-job carelessness was a factor in the disaster.
More than 150 victims were treated at hospitals and 10 are still in serious condition.
One wonders who should we hold accountable for such a catastrophe . Is it the Government or the Company ? Surely a disaster of this magnitude could have been somehow avoided had someone been more responsible and did their job correct. What are we doing to prevent in future such a mishap which may turn out to be a costly mistake and not give us another opportunity to rectify things as time will run out ……
I am planning on a world tour where I’ll be visiting and living in few countries for couple of years.I own a place that needs to be rented for the period I’m gone to pay for my mortgage. I came across several property management company on the web who all seem to be offering the same kind of services besides speaking the same language in my quest to find a property manager to supervise the property in my absence. That is when I realized picking a great property manager for your rental property is not easy though it’s one of the most important tasks you’ll ever undertake. Make sure you do the research and your homework well to ensure an efficient and reliable property manager. In searching for a manager, you’ll want to do a thorough interview, and in doing so, you should be able to figure out if they are worth working with. Here are some questions you’ll want to keep in mind when interviewing managers.
Questions to Consider When Interviewing Property Managers
1 – Cost Involved: Managers usually charge a monthly fee to watch and maintain your property which ranges from as low as approx 5% to upwards of 20%.Your goal should be to look for a company which is cost effective ie charges less and provides more services. Also find out if there is a cost or charge involved when the property is vacant as some company may end up charging you for the period the property is vacant.
2 – Communication: Communication is the key as I need someone who is in constant touch with me both by telephone and email.I definitely need response back in a timely manner for my peace of mind. In addition, you need someone who is flexible and willing to work with you.Always be upfront and clear in your communication so that there is no misunderstanding.
3 – Termination of your Agreement and Evictions:Always know the conditions for terminating your agreement like a charge for breaking your contract as you never know when the relatioinship may get sour. Also know the procedures for evictions and the cost involved.
4-Repairs and Maintenance Work-Keep in mind to know if the company has their own maintenance crew and what repair work they exactly do.Also find out what happens if they cannot handle a work and whether they have other contractors that they work with.Find out if they handle yard works and landscaping too. Also, fix a amount that the company can spend without contacting you say something under $150, above which they must confirm with you and present invoices/receipts for expenses.
5 –Reserves and Monthly Statements: Remember to know if the company sends out monthly or quarterly statements as it is very important. Also discuss about reserves that needs to be set aside for any unforeseen expenses.
6 – Accounting and Monthly Statements: Remember to know if the company sends out monthly or quarterly statements. There are specific state laws dictating accounting rules for managers. However you must know when to expect your cheque and if tenant deposits are comingled, or simply put together with all other income for your account.
7 – Vacancies: I’ve actually interviewed companies that will charge you 1/2 a month’s rent to fill vacancies in your property. I quickly ended my interview with these people. There is no reason to pay this fee, since many managers don’t need to charge it. You will need to fill your vacancies, so you will need some advertising done . . .
8-Reputation:Also find out if the company is reputed and has credibility in the market and the number of property they have handled.
Its always better to be careful then to be sorry later. If you can think of any other points or have anything to share please feel free to email me.
